In the beginning she never really understood alcoholism, why somebody would choose to drink themselves into oblivion and damage not just their own lives, but the lives of everyone close to them. But through the experience of this painful journey, Debbie learned a great deal about what it meant to be the wife of an alcoholic and how she could best support him.

Debbie has real experience of living with an alcoholic, watching the decline and recovery, learning how to manage and enhance the positive changes. Identifying the ‘drinking triggers’ and being ready to work through them with her husband was a big help in his recovery from his addiction to the powerful and often underestimated drug we call alcohol.
Supporting someone with an alcohol problem will take commitment, understanding, and resolve. But that support will make a massive difference to that person and will greatly improve their chances of overcoming the condition.
